With profound sadness and unwavering faith in God's promises, the Guerrero family announces the passing of our beloved AVELINO GUERRERO, who entered the presence of the Lord on June 29, 2026, at the age of 92.

Avelino was born in Milpillas de la Sierra, Valparaíso, Zacatecas, Mexico. His life was defined by unwavering faith in God, honest hard work, devotion to his family, and a warm heart that always found a reason to smile.

From the age of five, he learned the value of hard work, helping his family with a small hatchet his father made for him to cut firewood. At the age of fourteen, he came to the United States through the Bracero Program to work and help support his family. He dedicated his entire life to providing for those he loved. A devoted farmer and provider, Avelino believed that honest work was a blessing from God. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of integrity, perseverance, responsibility, saving for difficult times, and always placing God and family first.

He was the beloved husband of Jovita Guerrero, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 70 years after marrying on February 14, 1956. Together they built a home founded on faith, love, sacrifice, respect, and lifelong commitment.

Avelino will be remembered for his warm heart, deep faith, and wonderful sense of humor. He loved making his family laugh and had a gift for bringing joy to those around him. Even in his final days, he continued to bring comfort and smiles to those by his bedside. Above all, he loved the Lord and faithfully shared his faith with family, friends, and everyone he met. His greatest prayer was that one day his entire family would be reunited together in heaven.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jovita Guerrero; his loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lupita; his beloved son, Avel; his cherished grandson, Andrew; his younger brother, Antonio Guerrero; and his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10 AM at Las Cruces First, 5605 Bataan Memorial West, Las Cruces, New Mexico 88012. Interment will follow at Missionary Ridge Cemetery near Mesquite, New Mexico.

The Guerrero family extends its heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support shown during this difficult time. We find comfort in knowing that Avelino's life was a testimony of faith, love, hard work, kindness, and devotion to his family.
