On January 24, 2026, our beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and dear friend, ARTURO "TUDY" SERNA, age 85, was called to Heaven's gold gates by our Lord.

Arturo was the first born to Manuel L. Serna and Maria C. Serna on August 29, 1940, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. At age 18, he enlisted and was stationed at Sangley Point Naval Base in the Philippines. It was there that he met Christina, who later became his loving wife. Married in 1961 in Manila, they moved to Las Cruces where they spent 62 amazing years together.

Known for his quick-witted sense of humor and charming smile, Tudy was a big-hearted, loving, and dedicated man of faith. After a long career with the US Postal Service for over thirty years, he retired and continued his passion in woodworking with artistic attention to detail. Arturo was incredibly creative and talented at every craft he took interest in.

He created Papagayo Woodworking out of his backyard workshop and attended the Las Cruces Farmer's Market every Saturday for over a decade. He was best known for his antique post office boxes turned into coin banks, as well as a variety of unique furniture and crafts that embodied the spirit of his hometown and New Mexico.

Arturo is survived by his three children, Arturo D. Serna, Anna Serna-Wylie and Annette Serna, his granddaughter Alyssa Serna, two great-grandchildren Ariyah and Azalea Sanchez and his sisters Cecilia Ayers and Ernestina Torres. Tudy was preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife, Christina Perez Serna on April 17, 2023.

Calling hours will be from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday February 10, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. The Prayer Vigil will begin at 11 AM at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite Street with the Funeral Mass to be celebrated immediately thereafter. At his request cremation will take place and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.

Military honor will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment.
