Our beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother and aunt, Arminda "Linda" Q. Hernandez, 80, of Las Cruces was peacefully called to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 6, 1945, to Espiridion Quintana and Refugio Ochoa and married her husband of 61 years, Joe Hernandez, in 1964.
She is preceded in death by those who surely welcomed her with open arms: her father, Espiridion Quintana; her mother, Refugio Quintana; her son, Gilbert Hernandez; her sisters, Elia Aleman and Mary Pena; and her brother, Frederico Quintana.
Those left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her husband, Joe C. Hernandez; her sons, Joe Hernandez (Lisa), Michael Hernandez (Maurice), Sonny Hernandez (Evie) and Richard Hernandez (Lisa); her sisters, Refugio Ortiz and Gloria Vasquez (Abraham).
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Joshua M. Hernandez (Damian), Priscilla Hernandez Vest (Steven), Joseph G. Hernandez (Maggie), Richard Hernandez (Lauren), Richard Tellez, Justin Hernandez (Laura), Ryan Hernandez (Danielle), Mariah Hernandez (Erick), Kayla Hernandez, Stazia Hernandez, Jaeden Hernandez and great grandchildren: Noah, Kylie, Stella and Kacie Hernandez, Levi, Xavier, and Maverick Vest, Oakley Ortega, Ella, RJ, Scottie and Eryn Hernandez as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz Road with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. The funeral mass will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2026, at The Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle De Santiago, Mesilla, NM 88046. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at San Albino Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
Serving as casket bearers will be Joshua, Joseph, Richard, Ryan, Justin and Jaeden Hernandez. Honorary bearers will be Martin and Patricia Clark, Richard Tellez, Priscilla Hernandez Vest, Mariah, Kayla, and Stazia Hernandez - as a testament to the beautiful and enduring family she nurtured.
