Anthony Ray Barela, born June 28, 1981, in Las Cruces, passed away on April 30, 2026.

Anthony entered the world as the beloved son of Eva Barela and Tony Ortega Jr., and throughout his life he carried a deep love for his family and community. He is survived by his children Sonny Barela, Violet Barela, and Yaretzi Barela; his sister Lupita Barela; his longtime partner Veronica Lopez; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold his memory close.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Marcos Barela, whose memories he cherished and carried with him.

At Anthony's request, cremation will take place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date so that family and friends may gather to honor his spirit, share stories, and remember the love he gave so freely.
