Anita Hernandez, 83, of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on August 18, 2026, at La Posada Hospice.

Anita was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico on April 27, 1943, to Refujio and Maria Morales. Antia was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking Menudo and Tamales for her family every holiday season. She always had decorations for every holiday. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She also loved her little chihuahua, Gizmo, who she had for 15 years until he passed away. Anita had a second chihuahua named Princess whom she loved to dress up and make her look pretty.

Anita is survived by her sisters, Santos Chavez (Fabian); Esther Garcia (Alfredo); and Martha Trujillo (Ruben). Anita leaves behind her three children, Arthur (Janel), Annette, Eugene Hernandez; her 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufujio and Maria Morales; her brother, Joe Morales; Felipe Perez; Pascuala Villegas; Rita Villegas; Connie Chavez; and Joe Villegas.

Casket Bearers will be Arthur Hernandez, Adrian Solis, Adrian Ludwig, Gabriel Hernandez, Lorenzo Hernandez, and Ruben Ray Garcia.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 starting at 10 am at Baca’s Funeral Chapels, 300 East Boutz Road. Interment and committal will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 100 East Espina Street.
