ALICIA LANDEROS, age 93, of Las Cruces, passed away on December 17, 2025, in her home, surrounded by the warmth and devotion of her loving family.
Born June 1, 1932, in Laredo, Texas, Alicia was the daughter of Maria Garcia and Octaviano Landeros. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Mendez, and her granddaughter, Veronica Mendez.
Alicia lived her life in service to family—quietly, faithfully, and with a tenderness that never asked to be repaid. She not only cared for and raised her child, Maria, but also devoted herself to raising her four grandchildren: Frank Mendez, Veronica Mendez, Gabe Mendez, and Erica Pearson. In time, she extended that same devotion to her granddaughters, Monique Bermudez, Liv Ramírez, and Sylvia Ruiz, and later welcomed her great-great-grandchildren with warm embraces and heartfelt smiles that made every room feel like home.
Her love was shown in the everyday acts that mattered most. Alicia stood by her son-in-law, Francisco Mendez, through countless mornings and late nights, making sure he never went hungry as he worked long graveyard shifts in agricultural farming.
From a young age, Alicia knew hard labor, including cotton picking and agricultural work that demanded endurance and humility. Her hands carried the evidence of that life—stories of sacrifice and resilience—yet her spirit remained gentle, steadfast, and giving. One of the most cherished memories her family holds is her cooking: morning, noon, and night. To be in her care was to be nourished—not only with food, but with presence, comfort, and love.
Alicia cared for every soul who walked into her life. She was known for the hugs she gave so freely and the blessings she always bestowed—never letting anyone leave her side without a loving embrace and a quiet blessing placed upon their shoulder.
Alicia's legacy is one of devotion, perseverance, and a quiet strength that shaped generations. She will be deeply missed and forever honored.
