ALEJANDRO "ALEX" EUGENE MARTINEZ, age 45, passed away on November 12, 2025, at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, TX., surrounded by his loved ones. Alex was born August 8, 1980, in Silver City, NM to Andres Eugene and Diane (Chavez) Martinez.
Alex was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, fiancé and friend. Alex was loved by many over the years. His infectious laugh, happy spirit and "dad jokes" will be missed by all who knew him. He attended Cobre High School in Bayard, NM., class of 1998 and was a member of Las Cruces First Assembly of God. When Alex was young, he was very good at taking things apart and putting them back together. He built his first tattoo machine from radio parts when he was about 13.
Many family members and friends were used as his first human canvases. He enjoyed working on cars, tinkering with electronics and fixing things as a favorite past time. Alex enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, friends and family. He was very creative and passionate about music. He enjoyed finding new music, music artists and listening to oldies. He attended many concerts with Maribel. He enjoyed caring for his small farm animals, attending family gatherings, camping and fishing.
Alex proudly worked in the healthcare field for many years. Most recently he worked as a dialysis tech at Fresenius Dialysis Center. Alex had a passion for caring for people and talking to people who needed someone to talk to. Alex's greatest accomplishment was being a dad. He loved his family dearly. He worked hard and made sure to stay involved in any way possible with each of his children.
Alex is survived by his parents, mother Diane Chavez of Vado, NM; father Andres Martinez of Taos, NM; his sister Maria Elena "Mari" Chavez-Roman (Ruthie) of Las Cruces; stepfather Julian Hernandez, Jr. (Naomi) of Deming; his fiancé Maribel Reyes; daughters Elizabeth Arzola of Elko, NV, Aliyah Martinez, (Tony), and Rosie Ayala (Candie) all of Las Cruces; sons Armando Marquez, (Jessica), Jacob Martinez, (Ximena) all from Silver City, Anthony Ayala, (Kaitlin), Jaime Ayala, all from Las Cruces; one grandson Santiago; his niece Angel Arroyo, nephew Jaime Arroyo (Dominique) and two great nephews Jalen and Julian Arroyo all also from Las Cruces.
