Our beloved brother and uncle, Albert G. Armendariz, 85, of Las Cruces, NM passed away on October 31, 2023 at Mesilla Valley Hospice with his sister by his side.
Albert was born in West Texas to Jose and Alvessa Armendariz. He graduated from Balmorhea High School in May 1957. He then attended Sul Ross State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He would later obtain his Master of Education degree from the same university.
Albert enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed overseas for more than a year. After his military service, he began his career in education where he taught and coached at a school in Coolidge, AZ. Albert then moved to Las Cruces and was hired by the Las Cruces Public Schools as an elementary school counselor until he retired in 2005.
Albert's interests and hobbies were classic cars, trucks, RVs and horses. He was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Health Catholic Church.
Albert is survived by his loving sister, Magdalena Aleman (Arthur G.), his nephew, Arthur Albert, and all of his loving cousins.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Alvessa Armendariz.
Albert was always ready to lend a helping hand, and he was a very thoughtful and caring person. Albert will be dearly missed.
A prayer vigil for Albert will be held at 10am on November 27, 2023 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. A Funeral Liturgy will follow. Albert will be laid to rest at 2pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
