AGUSTIN BENAVIDEZ LARA, age 74, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 13, 1952, in El Paso, Texas to Herminda Benavidez and Agustin Lara Lopez. Agustin was employed at Featherlite Building Products as a welder for many years.

Agustin will be remembered for the love he shared with those around him, his strength, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. His presence brought comfort, guidance, and cherished memories to his family and friends, who will deeply miss him and forever hold him in their hearts. Though he has departed from this earthly life, the legacy of his kindness, love, and devotion will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Lara (Naddy) and Erik Lara (Chayenne), three daughters, Marisel Singh (Charles), Erika Lara and Suzette Ramirez all from Las Cruces; his former wife and mother of his children, Belem Avila de Lara, who also devoted her life in caring for Mr. Lara during his illness; two brothers, Robert and Armando Lara and sister, Alicia Barten; other survivors include 18 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was welcomed into eternal peace and reunited with his parents and loved ones who preceded him in death. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to his family and friends for generations to come.

Visitation for Mr. Lara will begin at 10 AM Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Baca’s Funeral Chapel 300 E. Boutz Road with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 AM. The Liturgy of the Word will follow immediately thereafter. At his request cremation will take place and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date.
