MAGDALENA MENDOZA MARQUEZ, age 99, lifelong resident of San Miguel left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father Saturday, May 19, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 5, 1912 in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico to Hermilo and Concepcion Bagues Mendoza. Mrs. Marquez was a homemaker and a communicant at San Miguel Catholic Church where she was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Those left to mourn her passing include two sons, Xavier “Happy” Marquez and wife Maria Elena, Jesus “Pee Wee” Marquez and wife Polly all of Del Cerro; a daughter, Lucy Lujan; a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Marquez; a dear friend she considered a daughter, Lucy Hinojosa all of San Miguel; a brother, Francisco “Frank” Javier Mendoza of Falls Church, Virginia; three sisters, Graciela Mendoza of Falls Church, Virginia, Carmen Haddock of El Paso, Texas, Cristina Bell of Stratford, Arkansas. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Marquez; a daughter, Eva Candelaria; a son, Juan “Johnny” Marquez and a son-in-law, Teodoro Candelaria.
Visitation for Mrs. Marquez will begin at 6 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in San Miguel Catholic Church, 19217 S. Highway 28 where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 AM Thursday, May 24, 2012 in the same church. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the San Miguel Cemetery where she will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Lujan, Xavier Jr., Jesus Jr. and Johnny Joe Marquez, Jacob Pierce and Alfredo Arias. Honorary bearers will be Ralph, Juan Manuel and Eliseo Arias.
