EFRAIM O. CARDON, 88, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Sunday, March 18, 2012 at his home. He was born March 2, 1924 in Hanover to Santos and Andrea Dominguez Cardon. Mr. Cardon retired from Civil Service as a security guard and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Those left to mourn his passing include two son, Leonard Cardon and wife Carmen of Las Cruces, Arnold Cardon and wife Tanya of Colorado; a daughter, Irene Avants and husband Larry of Tucson, Arizona; a brother, Art Cardon of Bend, Oregon; two sisters, Dru Jimenez of Victorville, California, Laura Acosta and husband Babes of Norwalk, California. Other survivors include eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Herlinda D. Cardon; a brother, Abelardo Cardon; three sisters, Consuelo Padilla, Nadine Armendariz and Tillie Almanza; a great granddaughter, Leanna.
Visitation for Mr. Cardon will begin at 6 PM Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Baca’s Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 2 PM Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina. Military Honors will be accorded by a New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League – El Perro Diablo Detachment. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be Leonard, Arnold, Dominic, and Alex Cardon, Larry Avants and Michael Gonzalez.
